Life's a Beach: Photo Card

Hello blogging friends!

Today I decided to explore the "Photo Card" creative feature on the Life's a Beach Cricut cartridge.

I believe that this feature is intended for actually making a card with a photo that compliments the beachy themed cuts on this cartridge. However, I decided to use the window cut-out to design an island scene.

Instead of having to make extra cuts in different colors, I used a direct-to-paper inking technique to alter the color of the cardstock for the palm trees and the mound of sand.
Meet "Beach Baby Jayme"! She is a darling digital image designed by Crissy Armstrong and I just had to have her. I colored here with copics and added some Stickles to accent. I used Ruby Red Liquid Pearls for her lipstick. You can find her here ➠ Whismy Stamps

Say a Prayer

Hello blogging friends. I can't possibly begin to express how much I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers you sent my way for my Mom and the lovely words of concern and empathy in your comments on my last blog post. You are all wonderful and very near and dear to my heart.

Here is an update on Mom: She is recovering well from surgery and is scheduled to be discharged from the hospital on Wednesday. We had hoped to be able to bring her home and have the therapist come out to the house to work with her but after speaking with the doctor today, he advises against that. He says it really would be in her best interest to go to a skilled nursing facility for approximately 14-20 days to get properly rehabilitated. So, with heavy hearts we made the decision to send her to get properly rehabilitated. I've never had to make a harder decision in my life. I know that it is not permanent but, it hurts none the less.

I spent a couple of nights in the hospital and the one thing I found you can do in the hospital while you are just sitting there is color! So I printed out several pages of digi images, loaded up my copics, and off to stay with my Mom I went. Now, I just have to make cards to go with all these pre-colored images.

Tonight's card is one using this darling angel from Crissy Armstrong. It is called "Say a Prayer" and can be purchased here ➠ Wags n Whiskers.

I colored her with copics and then added some Stickles around her wing, on the sash on her dress, and in the creases of her dress.
I mounted her on a bed of clouds that I sponged on a scalloped oval I cut out using my Cricut and Elegant Edges. The pattern paper is from SU. I think it is Berry Bliss. "I'm praying for you" sentiment is from Verve Stamps.

Clouds for the First Time!

I've been seeing all these fund cards with clouds in the background and wondering "how on earth did they do that". Well, my fellow DT member and blogging friend Shannon was kind enough to share with me a tutorial on how she did hers. Thanks again, Shannon.

This card is my first attempt at making clouds so please keep that in mind. It's also my first time working with "Courageous Carl"as well.

"Courageous Carl" by Crissy Armstrong available at Whismy Stamps. "smile" sentiment from Verve.

This card was inspired by the Craft Your Passion Challenge #66: Just For You- create a general card for anyone. I'm going to send this card to my niece. She's going through some growing pains with her family right now. You know that time in your life when you have graduated from high school so technically, you are an adult but, you live under your parent's roof and you have to abide by their rules? I remember it well and that's what she's going through at the moment.

Mojo Monday 198 with Christmas in July

Hello blogging friends! Are you ready for a little Christmas Spirit? I know it's hot outside but, I have one of the most adorable digi images from Crissy Armstrong that was just begging to be colored and put on a Christmas Card.

I also have promised myself that I will play along with the Mojo Monday sketches and use those for either a Christmas or birthday card...something we always never have enough of.

I'm always right under the wire getting my submission in for Mojo Monday but, I just had to play along with this fun sketch...

The challenge this week over at Tuesday Throwdown  is Christmas in July. How perfect!

This darling Christmas Turtle image is from Crissy's Digi's. I colored him up with my Copics and used some stickles on the outer edge of his shell and on the white part of his hat. The edge is inked with Peeled Paint distress ink from Tim Holtz.
No one does sentiments better than Verve and this one from the "Holiday Phrases" set is no exception!
