Life's a Beach: Charm Feature

Today I am experimenting with the charm feature on the Life's a Beach cartridge for Christian Paper Crafts.
The "charm" is basically a tag with an image in the middle of it.
I knew that I wanted to work with this adorable digi image from Sweet n Sassy Stamps...
I flipped through my handbook until I came across a sandcastle. I thought that would be perfect to go with my digi image above.

Instead of using the "layers" feature to add different colors of cardstock to my sandcastle, I just colored the it with my copics and accented it with stickles.
For my finished project, I decided to make a long card inspired by the challenge this week at CAS-ual Fridays...the Long and Short of It.

If you have this cartridge, why don't you give the charm feature a try?

Life's a Beach: Photo Card

Hello blogging friends!

Today I decided to explore the "Photo Card" creative feature on the Life's a Beach Cricut cartridge.

I believe that this feature is intended for actually making a card with a photo that compliments the beachy themed cuts on this cartridge. However, I decided to use the window cut-out to design an island scene.

Instead of having to make extra cuts in different colors, I used a direct-to-paper inking technique to alter the color of the cardstock for the palm trees and the mound of sand.
Meet "Beach Baby Jayme"! She is a darling digital image designed by Crissy Armstrong and I just had to have her. I colored here with copics and added some Stickles to accent. I used Ruby Red Liquid Pearls for her lipstick. You can find her here ➠ Whismy Stamps

Sunday's With Crissy is having a Design Team Call! Crissy designed the "Beach Baby Jayme" image I used on my card today.  You can read all about the details and apply by clicking the link below.

Life is a Beach: Title Words

Hello blogging friends!

Today, I am going to take you on an exploration of the "title words" creative feature on the Life is a Beach Cricut Cartridge.

"Title Words" are great little phrases that will work great on any of your summer/beach themed cards and layouts. Each title word comes with an image welded to it.

Here is the title word I chose to use on my card:
I cut this out on cardstock and then sprayed it with some homemade glimmer mist.

Since I chose to work with the title word escape I knew that I wanted to use this digi-stamp from Sweet N Sassy stamps:
Ocean Paradise digital image from Sweet n Sassy Stamps

I thought it would be nice to accent the image with more of those little leaves that are welded to the title word. So, I cut some out at 2in" and sprayed them with my homemade glimmer mist:

Here is the end result...

This card, which I have decided to call "Escape to an Ocean Paradise" is perfect for "The Beach" project call they have going on a Practical Scrappers so I am going to email it to them and see if they pick it up.

Qualifies for the following challenges:

Craft Your Passion~Anything Goes
Fantabulous Cricut~Water Themed Project
Sentimental Sundays~Anything Goes

Well, I hope you enjoyed our exploration this week! Next week my "partner in Cricut crafting crime" Sami will be taking you through an exploration of the "layers" creative feature on the Life is a Beach cartridge.

CPC Bible Verse Challenge: Nautical

This week our prompt for the Bible Verse Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts was Nautical.
When I think of Nautical, I think of boats, anchors, seashells and lighthouses. I knew I could make a lighthouse using my Cricut but then I had to think of a scripture from the Bible to tie into the lighthouse. Then I remembered Matthew 5:16... Let your light so shine.

Using an 8 1/2x11 sheet of black cardstock and  the square card feature on my Life's a Beach Cartridge I cut out this black card with the lighthouse in the window. I backed the window with white cardstock so that the lighthouse would be defined and then added yellow Stickles for the beams of light. The scripture is from a vellum quote pack from Die Cuts with a View.

Jungle Fever

I created this page using the Life is a Beach and George & Basic Shapes Cartridges and my Cricut Expression.
Using George & Basic Shapes I cut a 10" circle out of patterned paper. Using Life is a Beach, I used the border and title words feature to cut out the bamboo border and the title "Jungle Fever".
These photos were taken at the Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, SC.
