ODBDSLC166: Sketch

Hello Everyone! It's time for a new Shining Light Challenge over at Our Daily Bread Designs.

This week we are challenging you to use this sketch to inspire your card design:

Here is my take on the sketch:

Oh, I had such fun playing with the new Garden Mini Set and Garden Sentiments from Our Daily Bread Designs! These images went so perfectly with some Spring Market Designer Paper from Webster's Pages that I have been hoarding.

As soon as I saw the sketch I knew that I wanted to use my French Pastry Doily Die and French Pastry Mini Doily Die from Cheery Lynn Designs.

I found that great doily border punch on sale at Michael's this week! It's by EK Success and it's one of the deep edge punches.

My corners are Lace Deco Corners A also by Cheery Lynn Designs.

I loved distressing all the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink and it seemed to pull everything together nicely.

I hope that you will join us in our challenge this week. To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Sunday, August 18, at 8 p.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced next challenge. In order to win this prize, you do not need to use ODBD stamps, but if you have them, we would love to see them!! As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs Stamps, we will be choosing three or more participants for the Shining The Light Award. In order to qualify for this award, however, you must have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Sunday, August 18, at 8 p.m. EST. If you upload your creations to Splitcoast Stampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword ODBSLC166. When creating posts on your blogs, please include a link to the challenge.

I hope that you'll stop by my fellow designer's blogs/galleries and see their lovely creations for this challenge:

The Perfect Sentiment: Anything Goes

Hi Everyone! Hope you are having a great week. It's Wednesday and time for a new challenge at The Perfect Sentiment. This week is everyone's favorite challenge: Anything Goes!

Since anything goes and I needed to get a start on Christmas cards and I've always wanted to try pink and green for Christmas...this is what I ended up with...

I used one of my favorite Webster's Pages Collections, "Waiting for Santa/Sweet Season". This collection is probably now retired but, I have a nice stash of it left.

This card also gave me a reason to try out my Frosty Border die by Memory Box. It's hard to tell here but it's actually very elegant.

And of course I used one of my favorite sentiments from Verve's Bright Spirits stamp set.

Challenges I would like to enter:

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you are blessed.

Classy Cards N Such: Deepest Sympathy

Hello Everyone! It's been over a week since I've posted anything. Sorry about that. I also need to get out and visit a lot of you as well.

Here is another card made with fabulous products available at the Classy Cards N Such Online Store.

None of us really like to think about it but unfortunately, there are times when we least expect it and we need a sympathy card. So, I like to make at least one sympathy card a month to have on hand.

I started with a 5.5" square card base of Stardream Emerald. It has such a beautiful subtle sheen to it and really coordinated well with the greenery in the designer paper from the Webster's Pages Ladies & Gents/Trendsetters Collection Combo Pack. This collection is also in the clearance section of the store now! Since I already knew in my mind that I wanted to work with the 3-D Die-cut Red Roses, I chose a rose pattern to add to the base of my card.

Before I assembled my rose I knew that I wanted a nice base to display it on. I used the French Pastry Doily Die and the Stardream Chiara Coral cardstock to create a lovely pale pink doily to mat the rose on. Then I began to assemble the rose using foam pads.

I used the Verve Scroll Plain Jane stamp and matching die to create the scroll to stamp my sentiment on. My sentiment comes from the Verve Borderline Stamp Set.

For finishing touches I added a Mini Flourish Band in Stardream Emerald.

My card design was inspired by this Viva la Verve Sketch...

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you have a fabulous week!

Classy Cards N Such: Happy Wedding Day

Hello Everyone! It's time for another Classy Cards N Such Saturday! This is the day of the week that I share my cards created with products from the Classy Cards N Such Online Store.

Today I have a wedding card to share with you.

I started with a pre-made card base that measures 5.5 x 6.5. I created a rectangle and a square patterned paper layer using The Lake House collection.

On top of the patterned paper layers, I added a strip of Textured Two-tone Ribbon in Pink/White by May Arts.

Using pink cardstock and the French Pastry Doily Die, I cut out a pink doily and stamped my sentiment in the middle.

For the perfect finishing touch I cut out an off white
Labels Eighteen and mounted a Pink Floral Silhouette on it.

Spellbinders D-Lites are 15% off through February 14th at the Classy Cards N Such Online Store.  Details are here! Twenty dies to choose from!!

Click any of the pink links above for more info about the products I used.

Perfect Sentiments Challenge 09: Anything Goes with CASE'ing

Hello everyone! I have been a very bad blogger. Please forgive me. I hope that you all had a very blessed Thanksgiving and were able to enjoy some quality time with you family.

Today, I'm combining two posts in one. I'm going to share my latest creation for Classy Cards N Such which is also my sample for this week's challenge at The Perfect Sentiment.

The Challenge: anything goes for the sentiment and occasion
The Twist: you must CASE one of our designs and you must state in your blog post whose card you cased and what you took from it.

Our sponsor for this week is ME! I signed a contract with Tracey Malnofski from The Stamping Boutique to sell some of her digital images. I've started out small with a selection of Christmas/Winter images. You will find them under the tab above labeled "Digital Emporium". One lucky random winner will receive three images of their choice.

Since our challenge this week was "anything goes" and I'm in desperate need of getting holiday cards done I decided to make a Christmas card with some of the fabulous products from Classy Cards N Such.

I love the Waiting for Santa Collection from Webster's Pages. I don't think I could ever get tired of using it. The text patterned paper with the red background matches perfectly with SU's Cherry Cobbler cardstock. The opposite side of the paper has some vintage holiday images which you can see on my two rectangle layers. I used the Lacey Ovals from Spellbinders to cut out a larger and small oval. I stamped the Curvy Cross from Verve in Cherry Cobbler ink and then stamped "Jesus" over it with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Off to the right side I stamped "the true gift of Christmas" on top of the patterned paper where there was a bit of white space. These stamps are from a Verve set called Richly Blessed. My favorite part of the card is the Candy Cane Silhouette from Webster's Pages. I added a bit of red baby bling from Want 2 Scrap as the finishing touch. You can find the Webster's Pages paper and silhouettes, along with the Spellbinders and Want 2 Scrap bling at Classy Cards N Such.

Classy Cards N Such: Blessings, Count Yours

Hello Everyone.
I'm back with a fall card to share with you today that I made with fabulous products from the Classy Cards N Such online store.
I'm certain that many of you are already off to a great start on your fall cards. But for those of you that are looking for a quick elegant design, that is what I have to share.

I started off my card with a base of Stampin' Up!® cardstock. To that I added some of the WonderFALL designer paper by Webster's Pages. I chose this particular pattern because the sentiment "Blessings Count Yours" was built right into the pattern. I adhered a Sunflowers Silver outline sicker to a Lacy Oval die-cut piece of the Burgundy side of the Plum Iridescent Specialty Paper. I layered that onto a larger Lacy Oval die cut. For finishing touches I added some Webster's Pages Whimsies Mini Petals and two lines of the Fine Border Thick Thin stickers in Silver.

If you haven't tried the outlines stickers yet, you should. They come in really handy for making quick classy cards and you can stock up on them by taking 10% off using my discount code: JENNIPHER-10. Beverly has a great selection in her store to choose from. You can find links to all the products I used on the Classy Cards N Such Blog.

On a slightly different note, this was scheduled to be my last card for Classy Cards N Such but, I'm excited to say that Beverly has extended an offer to me to stay on awhile longer and I'm truly honored to except and well, like my card says...It's a blessing and I'm counting it! Looking forward to sharing more great products with you from Classy Cards N Such.

Classy Cards N Such: O Christmas Tree

Hello! It's time for me to share my latest card created with fabulous products from Classy Cards N Such.

I started my card by making the base with Stardream Emerald cardstock. This is a really beautiful and shimmery cardstock. It is so hard to describe the color and it's just so much more beautiful in real life. Next, I added various layers of patterned papers from the Collection Combo Pack - Waiting for Santa & Sweet Season by Webster's Pages. Love, love this collection! You simply must buy it! Using my Lacey Ovals dies from Spellbinders, I cut out one large oval and one smaller one. For the larger one I used Curious Translucents - Plum Iridescent specialty paper. This paper is so unique because it is a shimmery plum on the front and a matte burgundy on the back. I used the shimmery plum side. On the smaller oval I stamped a Christmas Tree Image from Verve Stamps. Using a Fancy Tags die from Spellbinders I cut out a label to stamp my sentiment on. I added a line of rhinestones that are comparable to Want 2 Scrap's Purple Rhinestones. I finished it off with a beautifully layered flower from Prima's Flowershop - De Soie Collection. I rarely make a card without a little distressing so, all the edges of the papers are inked with Black Soot Distress Ink from Tim Holtz.
Stop by Classy Cards N Such and grab up some of these wonderful products I've used today. I guarantee you'll love them! While there be sure to use my discount code to take 10% off your order: JENNIPHER-10.

I'd like to link this card up to two of my favorite challenge sites:

Thanks for dropping by today. I pray you are blessed.

September Verve Diva Dare

Hello everyone. Hope you have had a blessed Sunday. It seems lately that my card mojo hits on Sunday evenings. But, like everything else in life, I have to take it as it comes.

Today's card is for the Verve September Diva Dare. If you've never played along with the Diva Dare you really should. It's always fun and you could win some Verve Stamps!

The challenge for September was to CASE a Diva. Now, that's a challenge and there are so many Diva's to choose from. Well, I just couldn't decide so, I did the mature, adult thing to do and had someone else pick the card I was going to CASE. That's right, I let Mike pick the card for me to CASE! I did steer him in the direction of the "New Mercies" stamp set gallery and said pick any card from here cause I have this stamp set. But, other than that I let him pick the card.

He chose this card by Laurie Schmidlin:

Here is what I ended up with...

And from a different angle...

Thanks for the inspiring card Laurie!
Hope you all have a great week!

Stairway to Heaven

Hello Everyone. It's been awhile since I've posted and I'm way behind on returning comments but, I have a good reason, I promise.

First, I want to share my card I created for Classy Cards N Such.

I've been wanting to try some of the unique folding techniques for creating cards and I decided to give the Stair-Step fold a try using the tutorial available here at SCS.

scripture stamp from Verve Stamps

The challenge this week at Tuesday Throwdown is Pearls. I think my card fits that requirement, don't you?

Many of you may remember me posting about my Mom falling and breaking her hip and wrist and you all left me such wonderful words of comfort and promises of prayers and I thank you for that from the bottom of my heart. She recovered from that injury and is back at home with me and walking well with the assistance of a walker or cane. At that time, I didn't tell you that Mom had Congestive Heart Failure because the disease was under control. Unfortunately, things have changed. Her CHF is back in full swing and her heart has gotten considerably weaker. I really don't know how much time we have left with her and I am trying to make the most of it. Some days, I just don't feel like creating and blogging so please pardon me, if I don't post for awhile. On the other hand, there are days when creating is how I cope with all of it. I made the above card the day after Mom saw the doctor and it's why I used that scripture. I need the "oil of joy" for mourning and a "garment of praise" for the spirit of heaviness as she slowly climbs the "stairway to heaven".

Thank you for reading. Thank you for understanding. Thank you for your prayers.

Hurricane, End of an Era and Other Stuff

Hello everyone! I'm so grateful to be back online and have electricity! I'm blessed to be able to say that my family is safe and sound and we did not sustain any major damage from Hurricane Irene. I know I have a lot of catching up to do with commenting so please bear with me.

If you've been a loyal follower and reader of my blog then you know that I have been on the Christian Paper Crafts Design Team in one form or another since March 2010. It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing that I have stepped down from this organization. Back in October of 2010 I had to take a leave of absence from Christian Paper Crafts for medical reasons. When I returned in January 2011, although the site was still owned by my dear friend Cindy Coutts she had stepped down as the Servant in Charge and brought in an Executive Administrator to run things. So, this was quite a bit different than what I had originally signed on for. Cindy ran the site with such grace and understanding and she let each DT member carve out their own place at CPC...including giving me my own forum to share my passion for the Cricut. To summarize, in January when I returned full-time I thought I was just coming "home" but, things were really different. I needed to either get with the new program devised by the Executive Admin or I needed to get out. It has taken me 8 months to figure this out. So, I left this weekend. This doesn't mean that I no longer respect CPC and the message they are trying to send or that I'm not grateful to have had the opportunity to design for this organization and the opportunity to meet some wonderful Christian women. It just means that CPC is no longer a good fit for me and I am no longer a good fit for CPC. There are more changes to come at CPC that would be wrong for me to divulge at this time and I honestly don't know if those changes are going to be good or bad for this organization. Is there a gaping hole there because I have removed my "talent"? Absolutely not! And I'm certain that they will replace me with someone more enthusiastic and better suited to the "Spirit of CPC". I wish Cindy and her team the absolute best in their future endeavors.

My next news is that this past Saturday was the end of my Design Team term with the Sweet Stop Sketch Blog. This I will miss! Korin and Monika are the easiest people to design for and I am super grateful to have had the opportunity. I would have liked to continue on but, the term is only 3 months.

What's next for me...I don't know. Maybe nothing. Maybe something. I know this will give me the time and opportunity to just "play" with paper again.

If you've made it through all that...God Bless YOU! I'm going to leave you with my latest card I designed for Classy Cards n Such.

Today's card is all about letting the patterned paper do the work for you. I love to stamp but there are times when I don't feel like coloring in the images or I'd just like to make a card where my sentiment is the focus. With all the gorgeous patterned papers that are out there on the market you don't always need a stamped image to tell your story because the paper does it for you. Those blue pine trees just scream snow! Flip that paper over and you find a wonderful blue snowflake pattern. I punched some snowflakes out using a Martha Stewart Crafts snowflake punch and added some bling to the centers cause snowflakes really do sparkle!

Supplies:
Webster's Pages Waiting for Santa/Sweet Season DSP
Stardream Fuse Vista CS
Reich Shine CS
Spellbinders Labels 18
Holiday Phrases-Verve Stamps
Martha Stewart Crafts snowflake punch
EK Success snowflake border punch
