Mojo 382: Be Still My Heart

Hello again! Second post for tonight. This is becoming a regular Sunday evening habit. I've got to start crafting more doing the week.

This week's Mojo Monday sketch was a 'tall & skinny' one. I usually shy away from these sketches because the tall & skinny part intimidates me. However, I promised myself that for 2015 I would broaden my crafting horizons (oh boy)!
Here is my first tall & skinny card.
I decided to go with the 3.5 x 5.5 version of the skinny card and I chose to create a skinny Valentine. I did include all the layers that are on the sketch but because I used black and coordinating paper, it has all blended together. My tiny sentiment is from Verve's Flirty Phrases (retired). It was stamped on a tag that a created using the Tags #1 from Sizzix Sizzlets. Does anyone remember those as well as the Sizzix Sidekick? I remember when I first started scrapbooking I couldn't afford the Original Sizzix so I bought the sidekick and every chance I got I would purchase a pack of the Sizzlets. (I still have every single one of those things, too.) That was such a big purchase back then! (LOL) Who would've guessed that years later I would have two Cricut machines, a Cuttlebug and companies would be making matching dies for stamps. My how the industry has grown! I also never thought I would be a cardmaker. Oh-no, not me! I was all about creating on that 12x12 canvas and it has taken me a long time to get accustomed to the smaller canvas of the card.

Sorry for babbling on. Feeling nostalgic tonight.

God Bless and have an absolutely awesome week!

ODBDSLC162: White or Ivory and Your Choice of One Other Color

Hello Everyone! It's time for a new Shining Light Challenge over at Our Daily Bread Designs.

This week we are challenging you to use white or ivory and your choice of one other color in your card design.

I had such a blast creating my card this week. I was able to incorporate lots of things I love like, bling, glitter, and beads!

I started with a 5.5 x 5.5 card base made from Calypso Coral. To that I added a smaller square panel of Whisper White.  On the left side I added a strip of double sided Tacky Tape and then sprinkled on some Stampin' Up! ® Stampin Glitter. I stamped my Daffodil Corner and then colored it up with Copic Markers. Then I fussy-cut it out and adhered it to a lacy circle of Calypso Coral. Using an EK Success border punch I created a diamond border to which I added another strip of Tacky Tape and then covered it with seed beads. After I had my sentiment adhered to the card and the coral bling in the upper right hand corner, I went back in with my Viva Decor Pearl Pen and added some white pearl drops to the lacy circle.

I hope that you will join us in our challenge this week. To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Sunday, July 21 at 8 p.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced next challenge. In order to win this prize, you do not need to use ODBD stamps, but if you have them, we would love to see them!!

As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing three or more of our participants for the Shining the Light Award. In order to qualify for this award, however, you must have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Sunday,  July 21, at 8 p.m. EST. If you upload your creations to Splitcoast Stampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword  ODBDSLC162.  When creating your posts on blogs please include a link to the challenge.

Daydream Designs: Bushel & a Peck

Hi everyone and welcome to another Daydream Monday. It's time for me to share another project created with some of the fabulous digital products available at Daydream Designs.

Today I am working with the Bushel and a Peck Digi Set.

Using Photoshop Elements I layered and merged three of the images together to create my own scene.
I printed the merged image out and proceeded to coloring with my Copic markers. Coloring is still not an area that I am confident in so, you won't see me do this a whole lot unless I start improving. It's just that I really love fall and the wonderful fall scenery I couldn't resist but give the coloring a try.
I decided to fussy cut it out and leave a bit of the white border.
Supplies: Daydream Designs Bushel and a Pick Digi stamp set; Verve Plain Jane sentiment stamp; Sizzix Sizzlits dies; Real Red, Handsome Hunter, and River Rock CS; Copic Markers, Photoshop Elements.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope you are having a blessed week!

Feel the Love at Sentimental Sundays

It's Sunday and I pray that it's a blessed one for you. It's also time for another challenge at Sentimental Sundays!

This week we our challenging you to "Feel the Love" and make something for Valentine's Day or someone you love.

The base of my card was made with Poppy Parade cardstock from SU. I used some really old designer paper from The Angel Company and the colors seemed to match up well with Poppy Parade and Chocolate Chip from SU. I would have never thought to put these two colors together if they were not already combined in this paper but, I love the end result! I matted my designer paper with Chocolate Chip and then ran them both through my Cuttlebug with the Hearts embossing folder. My image and sentiment are from Sweet N Sassy Stamps. I stamped my image on Whisper White cardstock and then I sponged around the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink. I used Whisper White again with a Heart Tag Sizzix Sizzlits Die. I completely sponged over it with Antique Linen before stamping my sentiment on it. Then I wrapped some baker's twine around the panel and through the hole in my tag to secure it to the card. I know that many of you have jumped on the baker's twine bandwagon however, I had not tried it until today. I can see why everyone likes it so much.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Tuesday Throwdown: Use Hearts
Card Makin Mammas: Valentine

Valentine's Day is right around the corner so, "feel the love" and make something for your special someone and come join us at Sentimental Sundays. Be sure to stop by the Sentimental Sundays blog for more inspiration from the Design Team.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog today. God Bless You.

Die Cuttin Divas: Buttons, Bling, and/or Bows

Hello everyone! It's Tuesday and time for another challenge with the Die Cuttin Divas.

This week we want to see you use buttons, bling, and/or bows plus a die-cut.

I decided to go with bling and instead of using my Cricut this week I decided to work with some of my trusty dies from Spellbinders, Sizzix and Cuttlebug.

I distressed and inked the edges of the base as well as sponged ink around the edges of the lacy square before I stamped my Scripture on it. I used some baby bling around the lacy edges of the square.

So what do you fancy? Buttons, bling, or bows or all three? Figure it out and then get out your die-cuts and come play along with us at Die Cuttin Divas.

Do you enjoy making projects with Scripture on them? If you do and would like to share them with others, my friend Abby has a weekly linking party for projects made with Scripture on them. I will be linking this project up to Little Birdie Blessings.

Die Cuttin Divas: Squirrel Appreciation

Happy Tuesday! It's time for another fun challenge at Die Cuttin Divas!

Squirrel Appreciation Day is January 21st. So your challenge this week is to use a squirrel on your project.

I made my squirrel using the Cindy Loo cartridge and my Cricut.

My fellow DT members got really creative with this challenge and came up with some cute sentiments. I decided to be practical and make it a fall themed card as I never have enough of those when it's time to send them out.

Stop on by the Die Cuttin Divas blog to see the fabulous inspiration from my team mates. Then, join us for the challenge.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Perfect Sentiments Challenge 10: A Sparkly Christmas

It's time for another challenge at The Perfect Sentiment!

The challenge: Create a card that reflects a sentiment for Christmas
The Twist: Make it Sparkle! Use glitter, shimmer sprays, stickles, glittered cardstock, etc. You can never have too much sparkle!

Our sponsor this week is our very own Sami! She is generously giving away a $15 Gift Certificate to Kania's A|Muse Studio

I decided to use my Verve "Happy Holidays" stamp set for this challenge. Now that Verve has the matching dies for the snowflakes it makes creating with this set so much fun!

I stamped my snowflakes on Marina Mist cardstock with VersaMark ink. Then I covered them in Winter Wonderland embossing powder and heat embossed. To the centers I added one little red baby bling from Want 2 Scrap. Then I used the fabulous "A Cut Above" matching dies to cut them out.
The glittered cardstock is from DCWV. The plaid paper is from the Frostwood Lodge DSP collection from Stampin' Up!®.

Guest Designing with The Die Cuttin Divas: Tags, Tags, & More Tags

Happy Tuesday Everyone! I'm very excited today to be Guest Designing with the fabulous ladies from Die Cuttin' Divas.

If you are not familiar with them they are a challenge blog dedicated to using those die-cut machines we all just had to have. Raise your hand if you fall into this category!

Our challenge this week is called Tags, Tags, & More Tags and it is sponsored by the wonderful Whimsie Doodles. They gave us some adorable Christmas images to work with and I will be showcasing three of those images here today on my tags.

I decided to use my Cricut along with my Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge to cut out my tag bases.

Let's have a look...

This tag uses the Tag Jar image. I just loved those peppermint candies and knew when I saw it that I would use the image along with this peppermint striped paper from American Crafts. Don't they just look yummy? And nothing says Christmas like peppermint candy. I used the Sizzlits Lots of Tags Die set from Stampin' Up!® to cut out the label that I stamped "Holiday Joy" on.

Here we have the Penguin. He just looked plain cold to me so I thought a background of embossed snowflakes would suit him well. I used my snowflake Cuttlebug embossing folder and then inked over the raised areas with Soft Sky ink. This is a retired color from Stampin' Up but, I still love it and I used the matching ribbon or the bow. I used the same label as above to stamp "Let it Snow" on.

My final tag uses the Gift Box. I went clean and simple here. Just colored the image. cut it out, and let it stand on it's on against a white background. I used a different tag from the Sizzlits Lots of Tags Die set and I stamped "Holly Jolly" on it. I used some hemp cord to tie the two tags together and inked the outer edges of the tag base with Fired Brick Distress Ink.

All of the sentiments I used today are from Verve's Holiday Phrases stamp set.

This was a lot of fun and I hope you are inspired to get out whatever tag dies or cartridges you may have and make some tags. If you do, be sure to come share them with us over at Die Cuttin' Divas!

Perfect Sentiments Challenge 03: Get Well with Embossing

Hello Everyone. Hope you are having a great week. It's time for a new challenge over at The Perfect Sentiment!

The Challenge: create a card that reflects a sentiment of "get well"
The Twist: use a form of embossing on your card- dry or heat, whatever you fancy

Sarah from "My Little Somethings" is our sponsor this week. She is giving away this great little prize package to one lucky U.S. participant.

You can visit Sarah by clicking on the button below.

Now for my card...
inside reads "get better soon"
I used a stamp set from Unity Stamp Co. that I purchased last year and just never really had a reason to use it. It is called Heart Times. It has some really cute images and sentiments in it. But, I rarely do cutesy so, that may be another reason why I haven't used it. I also wanted to try the Lucky Limeade and Island Indigo color combination I have been seeing so many people use on their cards. I have to admit, I really like it. I used the tiny bubbles embossing folder from Cuttlebug as I thought that went nicely with the idea of fizzy bubbles from your soda. What do you think?

For more inspiration check out my fellow designers' blogs:

Once you're inspired come play along at the Perfect Sentiment!

On a slightly different note...I seem to be stuck at 99 followers! Can't seem to get over that hump to 100. If one person would be so kind to follow me so I could finally say I have 100 followers I would be truly grateful!

As always, thanks for stopping by! Have a great week.
