Monochromatic Thoughts of You @ The Perfect Sentiment

Happy Wednesday!! It's time for a new challenge at The Perfect Sentiment. This week we are challenging you to make a card with a sentiment that lets someone know they are in your thoughts. Our twist for the challenge is to use a monochromatic color scheme.

Our sponsor is the ever-fabulous Stitchy Bear Stamps.
One lucky random winner will receive a $10 Gift Voucher.

I must admit this challenge was much harder than I thought it would be! I love coral and peach tones and that is the direction I was attempting to go in for my monochromatic color scheme. I used Cajun Craze, Tangerine Tango, and Peach Parfait all from SU.

My stamps are from Unity's April 2010 Store Kit of the Month. The different layers were cut out with my Cricut using George & Basic Shapes as well as Elegant Edges cartridges. I love using the Cricut for cutting out basic shapes because you can get the perfect mat for your layers using the shadow feature so it takes all the guesswork out it. The rose is a Sugar Bloom from Prima.

This card is a little too clean and simple for my taste but, what's done is done!

Hop on by my team mates' blogs to see how they answered this challenge...

Sweet Stop Sketch 113

Hello blogging friends! It's Saturday and time for another sketch over at the Sweet Stop. This time Korin challenged us to make a round card.
Since honesty is the best policy, I'm going to go ahead and tell you that I don't really shine at creating round cards. So, when I saw this one I let out a big `ole groanFree Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net !! But, I turned on my trusty Cricut Expression and inserted the Wild Card cartridge and ended up with this...
I started with a base of Pale Plum cardstock from Stampin' Up!® I know it doesn't look like Pale Plum but that's because I inked the edges with Milled Lavender Distress Ink. To that base I added Enchante' Designer Series Paper from SU; another retired oldie but goodie! Next, I cut out a rounded rectangle using George & Basic Shapes cartridge and the opposite side of the Enchante' DSP.

Let's have a look close up:
Here you can see the opposite side of the Enchante' DSP which has text on it.  The Iris is a Grand Adhesion from K & Co.'s Cottage Garden Collection. The purple bling is from the Recollections brand at Michael's.

Here you see the heart and soul of the card! One of my favorite prayers! This incredible stamp is from the Serenity set by Verve. I cut out the pointed square using the Elegant Edges cartridge. I know you get sick of me using that one! I promise I have others. It's just so perfect for card layers. I lightly inked the edges with Milled Lavender Distress Ink.
And for a side view...

Well, I survived the circle card and even managed to fit this card into the Dare to Get Dirty Splitcoaststampers Central Theme Challenge: Text Me! It's my first time playing along with the Dirty Dozen and I've been a Fan Club Member for awhile now! The Dirty Dozen has some fabulous creations for you to view using the "printed word".  But you can only view them if you are a Member of the Fan Club.

Well, I hope you will join us at the Sweet Stop and play along with the sketch this week. I would love for you to visit my fellow Sugar Babies to see what they created for this week's sketch.

Here is the line-up:

I want to thank you all for stopping by today!

Note: I am always so grateful for the comments and followers that I get, that I make it a point to return every single one of them and I return them in the order they are received. I also think it's just good blog etiquette to do so. When blogger went down a few weeks back I got behind on returning comments. I am currently working on returning comments from June 10th to the present. Please know that I will get to your blog and leave you some kindness. Thanks to all of you for touching my heart the way you do with your kind words and faithfulness to visit me. May God Bless You All!

Christian Paper Crafts Color Monday 108

Hello everyone! It's time for the latest Color Monday Challenge at Christian Paper Crafts.

Here is the color story for this week:
The challenge: Using the colors in the color story as your inspiration create a project of your choosing. You may be inspired by only one color, of combination of two or three, or all of them. The choice is yours!
I was inspired by the rose pink in the color story and decided to use that as my inspiration. Browsing through my patterned paper stash I found the perfect paper from the Abriana Collection by K & Co that I felt best represented what looked to me like Regal Rose from Stampin' Up!®.

I added Rich Razzleberry and Orchid Opulence (retired) cardstock to the Regal Rose I had already chosen and used the cardstock as base layers for my patterned paper. The flower circles were cut out using my Cricut Expression and Elegant Edges cartridge. I do not own a sewing machine so, YES, that is hand-stitching that you see there. I used Bazzill stitching templates with a paper-piercer to make the holes and then stitched with some craft thread from Michael's. The sentiment I used is from a Verve stamp set called "Beautiful You".

This card design was inspired by Verve Diva Maureen's Viva la Verve Sketch:

I had the most fun making this card! First of all, I loved this sketch so, thank you Maureen. Secondly, I've never stretched myself to use three colors and I just love how well everything came together. Thirdly, the hand-stitching made me feel as if I was really putting a lot of love into this card and well, I did!

If you are not a member of Christian Paper Crafts you are still welcome to play along with our challenges by joining us on the Creative Blog. It's also not necessary for you to be a Christian. Come as you are and enjoy the challenges. We have a different one every day of the week, except Sundays.

Mojo Monday 188 & Some Exciting News to Share

Hello Everyone! Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I am so grateful for all the recent comments on my cards and my new followers. I am slowly trying to get caught up returning your kindness my visiting your blogs and commenting.

Today I am sharing a card with you that was inspired by this week's Mojo Monday Sketch 188. There were two sketch options provided: Round or Square

I chose to go with the square option and create this birthday card for my niece who is turning 8 on next Saturday.

I had so much fun creating this card and using the Mojo Monday sketch. Everything just seemed to come together super easy for me!
I used the Ice Cream Parlor Simply Scrappin' Collection from Stampin' Up! Isn't it just perfect for birthday cards? Of course I used my Cricut and some cartridges; George and Basic Shapes to cut a 3 1/2 inch circle to print my Cocoa Birthday Cake digi stamp from Sweet n Sassy stamps on and then Elegant Edges to cut a 3 3/4 inch flower circle to mount the stamped image on. I colored in my image with copics and added some Stickles to hi-light certain areas of the image.

Now for my exciting news to share...
Korin from Sweet n Sassy Stamps has invited me to be a Guest Designer for the Sweet Stop Sketch Blog for the month of May! I am super excited about this as this is the first Guest Designer position I've ever been offered in the world of card-making and stamping and it's for one of my two favorite stamp companies. How cool is that?

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a blessed week.

Viva la Verve April #2

Howdy All! I'm back with another Viva la Verve sketch creation.

This one is for week 2 of April and was created by Verve Diva Andrea Ewen.

Now that Easter has passed I have moved on the Mother's Day Cards. I purchased this great new set from Verve called "Love Deepens" and it has the best sentiments for Mother's Day cards and all the special women in your life.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge Blog has issued a challenge to use a Mother's Day Sentiment on your card this week and I think I have managed to hit the mark on that one.

The cards that I am making now are to fill a custom card order for my Niece. She needs at least three cards for Mother's Day and I'm pretty sure this one will be going to my Sister...

I went way back in my stash and found this gorgeous patterned paper pad from My Minds Eye that I purchased last summer. Why I haven't used it before now I do not know! Pink and green are one of my favorite paper-crafting color combos and I know that's what I was thinking when I purchased it. The bling on the card is from Recollections. I used Melon Mambo and Pear Pizzazz cardstock from Stampin' Up!®. I cut the different layers using my Cricut Expression, Elegant Edges and George & Basic Shapes cartridges. The inside simply says "Happy Mother's Day".

Thanks for looking!

April 2011 CPC Design Team Delights

Tomorrow the Christian Paper Crafts Design Team Delights Gallery for April will open! Our theme for this month was Mother's Day & Friendship: Honoring the Special Women in Your Life. If you are a Super Sister or King's Daughter you will have access to the gallery. In it you will find projects like this one...

I cut out this card using the Cricut Expression and the Wild Card Cartridge. Wild Card has so many unique shaped cards for different themes and holidays. It also comes with matching envelopes for each card shape. I used one of the new paper collections from DCWV called Blossom Song. It is one of the most beautiful collections I have ever seen from them. The base for my sentiment was cut from Storybook. This is another great cartridge! It has fancy corners and accents that are perfect for card-making.
Thanks for stopping by today!

A Measure of Love

Hello blogging friends and followers!

Today I have a card to share with you that was inspired by 2 challenges at Christian Paper Crafts: Sketch Tuesday 101 and Bible Verse Thursday 99.

Here is the sketch that Gloria challenged us with:

For Bible Verse Thursday, Angie gave us the creative prompt: Measure Up.
I decided to go with this definition of measure: a certain quantity or degree of something

I began to browse through all my scripture stamps and I came up with John 3:16 and I thought, "if that isn't a measure of love, I don't know what is".

So that, my friends is how this card came into being...

  • Spring Silhouettes Designer Series Paper- Stampin' Up!

February's True Friend

My Mom asked me to make a birthday card for one of her friends this month. This woman loves flowers and February's flower is an Iris. I have an entire collection of birth-month flower stamps from Sweet n Sassy Stamps.
I found this lovely new collection from K & Co. by Tim Coffey called Cottage Garden. Love, love, K & Co.! They haven't produced a collection yet, that I'm not absolutely in love with. The patterned paper, die-cut accents, and border strips were a perfect match to the Iris image stamp!
I used Perfect Plum Stampin' Up! cardstock as my card base and Always Artichoke Stampin' Up! cardstock to mount my oval layers on. Image and sentiment were stamped in Black Palette Ink. Crushed Olive Distress Ink by Tim Holtz was used to stipple the Very Vanilla Stampin' Up! cardstock.

Unity Friends with Flair

Hello my Friends with Flair! Thanks for stopping by to see my Unity creation today.

I used this set to create my card...

If you like this set it can be purchased here: Comfy Cozy

My inspiration for today's card came from SCS Card Sketch Challenge 317...

Now for my card...
I paper-pieced the "love seat" line-art image using some Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! called Loves Me. It's an oldie but a goodie that I've had in my stash for awhile. The brown polka dot paper is the reverse side of that same paper. Cardstock colors are Taken with Teal and Close to Cocoa, also from Stampin' Up! All of the paper's edges were inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink by Tim Holtz. Love that stuff!
This is a close-up of the heart charms that were cut out using my Cricut and George & Basic Shapes cartridge.

If you are just getting started with the Friends with Flair hop you'll want to make sure you stop by the Unity Stamp Co. Blog so that you can see the full line-up of Flair.

On a side note... I had to rebuild my blog and transition to Blogger from Typepad. During the Process I lost all my posts along with all my followers as well as the blogs I was following. If you feel inclined to do so please follow me and I will return the favor.

I really appreciate you stopping by today. Until next time...

Jungle Fever

I created this page using the Life is a Beach and George & Basic Shapes Cartridges and my Cricut Expression.
Using George & Basic Shapes I cut a 10" circle out of patterned paper. Using Life is a Beach, I used the border and title words feature to cut out the bamboo border and the title "Jungle Fever".
These photos were taken at the Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, SC.
