For A Special Woman/Mother's Day @ Sentimental Sundays

I am so happy to be back today with a post for Sentimental Sundays! It's been awhile since I've been able to create for them because life keeps getting in the way. However, I love creating cards for Mother's Day and I was determined not to miss this challenge so, I created my card earlier in the week.

The challenge this week is to create something for a special woman or for Mother's Day. Don't forget your sentiment.

I have this incredible set of sentiments that Verve Stamps introduced last year called Love Deepens. Trust me when I say it will work for all the special women in your life. I used one of the sentiments on my card below.

This card includes all of my favorites...distressing, inking, die-cutting, bling, and flowers! I am in love with these Calcutta Minis by Prima. They are made of layered burlap fabric with pearl centers and are the perfect finishing touch to any project. I used the Seashell color.

For the first time ever I used Nestabling! I've had a package of it for awhile but was terrified of using it. I just knew it would end up being a sticky mess and get stuck together once I pulled it off the plastic backing. But, it didn't do that! It kept it's shaped and went on like a dream. The color I used on my card is called Moss Pearl.

This great vintage looking patterned paper is called Happy Travels by Glitz Designs.

All of the products used on my card today can be found at Classy Cards N Such Online Store. If you would like to give any of them a try feel free to take 10% off with my discount code: JENNIPHER-10.

Be sure to stop by Sentimental Sundays to see what the rest of the Design Team created for this challenge. Once you're inspired give the challenge a try yourself. Can't wait to see what you create!

Handmade Flowers for Mom @ The Perfect Sentiment

What Mother doesn't love flowers? I know mine does. This week at The Perfect Sentiment we are challenging you to create a card with a Mother's Day sentiment and include some handmade flowers. You can use your punches, dies, Cricut cartridges. You can hand cut them from fabric or felt. You can even crochet them. Whatever you fancy. Just no premade flowers.

We are being sponsored by Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps and More. Our random winner will receive 5 digital stamps of their choice from Robyn's Fetish.

I decided to break out my Mother's Day Bouquet Cricut Cartridge for this challenge. It's appropriately named, wouldn't you say? I've had this cartridge since last year and have never used it. I used Flower #25 cut three times in three sizes one quarter inch apart.

I inked the edges of the petals slightly and rolled and shaped them until they looked a little more realistic. The leaves are also from the Mother's Day Bouquet Cartridge. All the paper used here is from Stampin' Up! ®. I used Pocket Full of Posies DSP, Rich Razzleberry and Pear Pizaaz CS, as well as Pear Pizaaz ribbon.

Please take a moment to visit my fellow team members and see their take on this challenge:

Sweet Stop Sketch 107

Hello everyone! It's time for the latest sketch at the Sweet Stop.

As I mentioned in an earlier post I am a guest designer this month for The Sweet Stop so every Saturday in May I will be featuring their sketch along with my interpretation of it.

Here is the sketch Korin challenged us with:

This was a fun sketch but, it took me forever to figure out how to cut the patterned paper so that the sides would meet in the middle. I was using a double-sided sheet of paper from K & Co. Somehow I managed to get that done which was the hardest part of this sketch!
Since Mother's Day is tomorrow I thought I would make one more Mother's Day card. I used Peach Parfait cardstock from Stampin' Up! It's my first time using this shade and I have to admit with the patterned paper from K & Co. this color is really starting to appeal to me. The image is a digi stamp from Sweet n Sassy Stamps called Lilac Cocoa. Now, I know that Lilacs are not orange however, I have learned that it is much easier if you pick out your patterned papers and cardstock before you color the image if you want everything to be pleasing to the eye. This way you can use colors in your image that are in your patterns and there is no clashing. It's much harder the other way around, at least for me it is. Often I am inspired by a patterned paper that I have and really want to use so, this is another reason this method works for me. I used my Cricut Expression and Elegant Edges to cut out the oblong shape that is behind the digi image. After cutting it out I embossed it with a Textured Impressions embossing folder from Sizzix that looks like it has big botanicals in it like the patterned paper I used. Unfortunately I do not know the name of it. In between the 2 patterned paper triangles I adhered Peach Parfait ribbon and added some gemstones on top of that. I stamped a tag with the Mother's Day Wishes sentiment from Verve Stamp Set Love Deepens and inked the edges with Peach Parfait. I added yellow stickles to the centers of the lilacs. To finish it off I added 3 gemstones in the upper left corner of the card.
I hope you like my take on the sketch and I hope you will come play along with us at The Sweet Stop!

Until next time...

Viva la Verve April #2

Howdy All! I'm back with another Viva la Verve sketch creation.

This one is for week 2 of April and was created by Verve Diva Andrea Ewen.

Now that Easter has passed I have moved on the Mother's Day Cards. I purchased this great new set from Verve called "Love Deepens" and it has the best sentiments for Mother's Day cards and all the special women in your life.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge Blog has issued a challenge to use a Mother's Day Sentiment on your card this week and I think I have managed to hit the mark on that one.

The cards that I am making now are to fill a custom card order for my Niece. She needs at least three cards for Mother's Day and I'm pretty sure this one will be going to my Sister...

I went way back in my stash and found this gorgeous patterned paper pad from My Minds Eye that I purchased last summer. Why I haven't used it before now I do not know! Pink and green are one of my favorite paper-crafting color combos and I know that's what I was thinking when I purchased it. The bling on the card is from Recollections. I used Melon Mambo and Pear Pizzazz cardstock from Stampin' Up!®. I cut the different layers using my Cricut Expression, Elegant Edges and George & Basic Shapes cartridges. The inside simply says "Happy Mother's Day".

Thanks for looking!
